From SVP to Success:

Melani Amelia Sanjaya’s Journey in Economics & Business Economics at the University of Groningen

“Success is more than just hard work, it is about balancing your efforts, building strong connections, and embracing every step of the journey.”

My goal is simple but ambitious: to graduate on time from the University of Groningen and continue my studies with a master’s degree in financial economics. I believe that success is not just about studying hard, but also about maintaining a balanced life. To achieve this, I make sure to manage my time well—focusing on academics when needed while also joining student associations and pursuing internships.
Looking back, I realize how much SVP shaped me for university life. SVP’s challenging environment taught me how to handle heavy workloads, work on group projects, and present my ideas effectively. More importantly, SVP prepared me to communicate and collaborate with people from different cultural backgrounds, which is essential in an international setting like the Netherlands.
One of the things I appreciated most about SVP was the supportive community. I was lucky to have teachers who were always open to listening and giving advice, whether it was about school or personal issues. The friendships I built at SVP are also something I hold dear; their support continues to be a source of strength for me.
