In an era characterized by rapid globalization and technological advancement, preparing students for the challenges of the future job market is more crucial than ever.

What kind of skills should our children have to face these challenges? The International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum with its holistic approach is the answer. It’s more than just a set of subjects; it’s a way of learning that helps students grow academically and personally. Recent research has shown that IB students around the world perform better than non-IB students, making IB a great choice for parents.

How do IB students excel over their non-IB peers?

This research was conducted by the IB Research Department studying how IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) students perform compared to non-IB students using the International Schools’ Assessment (ISA). The ISA evaluates students from grades 3 to 10 in areas like Reading, Math, Narrative Writing, Expository Writing, and Scientific Literacy.

This study involved 445 schools, mostly from Asia-Pacific region, Middle East, Europe, the Americas and Africa. 201 schools that participated were IB PYP or MYP authorized. The study showed that PYP and MYP students surpassed non-IB peers in ISA assessments across multiple grades.

Schools with longer IB Authorization performed better in International Schools’ Assessment

A multilevel analysis was conducted to evaluate the effects of length of IB authorization on school performance. This research showed that schools with longer PYP or MYP authorization tended to have a better ISA performance.

The IB curriculum’s emphasis on critical thinking, research skills, and global perspectives prepares students not just for exams but for life beyond the classroom. By enrolling your child in an IB program, you’re giving them a head start towards a successful future.
